The Firebombing of Tokyo, March 9-10, 1945, LeMay's B-29 bombers attack Tokyo, a city of 6 million people. 600 bombers drop 1,665 tons of firebombs, destroying 16 square miles. 100,000 people killed, more than died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.
