D-Day or Invasion Beaches, Normandy, France, "Operation Overlord," June 6, 1944 was the largest military invasion of the world. Allied troops sent: 12,000 aircraft, 150,000 troops, 20,000 airborne troops, 5,300 ships, and 1,500 tanks.
